You might have thought doing your own annual budget was tough enough, so spare a thought for Federal Treasurer Wayne Swan who handed down the nation’s budget on Tuesday night.
While budget night has finance nerds and political lobbiests drooling with anticipation, the rest of us duly give the next day’s paper a once-over to work out how we might have been affected.
Those earning big bucks should be sure to pay attention to the reduction in the private health insurance rebate for high income earners, or if you’re in the market for your first home in the next little while, you’ll be interested to know that the first home owner’s grant is being extended.
