Macquarie Shenanigans
Sunday 14 February 2010
All eyes turned to Macquarie Bank a few weeks ago after one of their client advisers was spotted perusing ‘inappropriate’ photographs of Miranda Kerr on live TV. Interestingly, it’s not just Macquarie’s reputation on that front that’s been called into question.
In another damaging blow to their reputation, Macquarie ranked poorly in a global survey of the ethical standards of the world’s most well-known companies compiled by Geneva-based ranking agency Covalence.
While beating corporate baddie Monsanto, Macquarie only managed to make it to 537th position on a list of 581. Other Australian companies featured on the list included Rio Tinto (44), Woolworths (129) and Telstra (310).
In this week’s article of the week Mark Hawthorne from The Age online writes about the Macquarie shenanigans and other Australian companies that featured in the survey.
